JAMB 2027 Pre-Registration App: What You Must Do Now

Last updated: 2 November 2026

JAMB says UTME registration in 2027 could take only 2 to 3 minutes. In 2026, it took about 20 minutes. That is the promise from JAMB’s new Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina. Over 2.2 million students wrote UTME in 2026, so this change will touch a lot of people.

Quick answer: JAMB is bringing a phone app called the National Digital Pre-Registration App (NDPA) for the 2027 UTME. You use it at home to plan your registration. You must still finish registration at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB has not yet announced the registration date or the fee.

What is the new JAMB pre-registration app?

The app is a “get ready” tool on your phone. The Sun reports that JAMB announced it in its weekly bulletin. With the app, you can:

  • Think about the course and school you want
  • Check if you qualify for that course
  • See the requirements for the course
  • Find the right subject combination for the course
  • Check that your personal details are correct

After that, you go to the centre. There, they only check and confirm everything. JAMB says the app will not replace the centre.

Why is JAMB doing this?

Many students make mistakes when they register in a hurry. Some pick the wrong subjects. Some put wrong details. Later, they suffer for it.

The new Registrar says he wants to remove the “trauma” that comes with registration. JAMB also says the system will scan and check documents by itself, so wrong information is caught early. When you plan at home, you are calm. You are not under pressure at the centre.

What has JAMB not told us yet?

A lot of websites are already shouting dates. Do not believe them. In late October 2026, JAMB had not yet announced these things:

  • The date registration will start
  • The date registration will close
  • The registration fee

Some blogs say 10 December. Others say 19 January. These are guesses. They are not from JAMB. Wait for the real notice on the official JAMB website.

What else is new for UTME 2027?

  • Exam dates: The Federal Government has proposed 15 to 25 March 2027. This is not final yet.
  • Start time: JAMB has moved the first session to start at 8:30 a.m.
  • New skills in the exam: JAMB set up a committee to add life skills and critical thinking to the UTME.
  • A centre in Canada: JAMB plans a UTME centre in Ottawa, Canada, for Nigerians living there. Vanguard has the story.

The March date is earlier than in 2026. So you may have less time than you think. Start early.

5 things to do now (before registration opens)

  1. Fix your NIN and phone number. Make sure your NIN is correct. Make sure the phone number and email you will use are working, and that you can reach them. You will need them for your JAMB profile.
  2. Choose your course and school. Check the school’s website for what they want. Our school admission guides will help you.
  3. Pick the right subject combination. English is compulsory. The other three subjects must match your course. A wrong combination can cost you the admission.
  4. Start studying today. Do not wait for the form. Read the JAMB syllabus and practise every day. See our study tips and JAMB guides.
  5. Know the next step. After UTME, many schools ask for Post-UTME. Read our Post-UTME guides early.

3 common mistakes at registration (and how to avoid them)

Every year, students lose time and money because of small mistakes. Learn from them before you start.

  • Wrong name or date of birth. Your details must match your NIN and your documents. Check them slowly, letter by letter. A small spelling mistake can give you big stress later.
  • A phone number or email you cannot reach. JAMB sends important messages there. If the SIM is lost or the email password is forgotten, fix it now, not on the last day.
  • Waiting for the last week. When the deadline is near, the centres are full and the network is slow. Register early and calm down.

The new app is meant to help with all three. But the app can only help if you bring the right information. So start to gather your details today.

Beware of fake websites and agents

Every year, some people lose money to fake JAMB websites. When a new app or form comes out, the fake ones increase.

  • Use only the official JAMB website and app.
  • Never give your password or pin to any agent.
  • Nobody can help you “pass” JAMB with money. It is a lie.
